The only reason that I can see why they wouldn't do it, is due to the claims process. I believe that with a motorcycle, you have to prove it is running first. Then they take the engine out to ship it as household goods. If you can't prove the engine is running, then there is the potential for you to claim they ruined it during shipment. I am sure that they don't want to take that liability risk. However, if you break it down and ship it as spare parts, there is no claim that you could make, as the engine didn't have the potential to run when it was packed out.
